Winter Sports cover is only operative if indicated in the certificate of insurance and, where appropriate, an additional premium is paid.  Any reference to "ski" includes the snowboard equivalent.  Winter Sports cover operates for the period declared on a single trip policy or, if under Annual Multi Trip policies, for a period not exceeding 21 days in total in each period of insurance.

The following activities are covered:

• On-piste skiing (including mono skiing) or snowboarding on-piste.
• Off-piste skiing or snowboarding where accompanied by a qualified guide or instructor.
• Cross country skiing (nordic skiing) on recognised routes.
• Cross country skiing outside recognised routes with a qualified guide or instructor.
• Ski racing arranged by ski schools for their pupils.
• Snow sledging.

Examples of Winter Sports activities not covered are: bobsleighing, heli-skiing, ice hockey, luging, ski acrobatics, freestyle, and ski jumping.

Our Winter Sports policy provides cover for:

• The loss, theft of or damage to your own or hired ski equipment.
• The reasonable cost of hiring replacement ski equipment as a result of the accidental loss, theft of or damage to or temporary loss in transit for more than 24 hours of your own ski equipment.
• The unused portion of your ski pack (school fees, lift passes and hired ski equipment) following your Bodily Injury or illness.
• The unused portion of your lift pass, if lost or stolen, subject to the incident being reported to the lift operators immediately and to the police within 24 hours.
• Piste or avalanche closure for the cost of transport organised by the tour operator (or public transport but not taxis if you have booked your holiday without a tour operator) to an alternative site if the pre-booked resort is closed and it is not possible to ski (excluding cross country skiing) due to the following reasons: lack of snow conditions, strike, power failure, adverse weather or avalanche
